Steam Baths

(It was more difficult to find a "steam room" image than I would have thought.
Some of them are pretty racy! Haha!)

It took me a while to enjoy the steam room at my gym... not because I didn't want to, but because of the effort involved. Well, I have now made the effort and made it a point to go at least a couple of times a week. I love it- look forward to it.

Steam room/baths are different than Saunas. Both beneficial, but people often explain them interchangeably and they are not the same. Steam baths have steam, high humidity and when going strong you see "fog". They are usually finished in ceramic tile to contain the steam. Saunas are dry, no moisture, and are generally finished with wood inside.

There are many good benefits from steam baths in addition to the amazing benefits of relaxation and stress relief...

- relief from Muscle tension and stiff joints
- boosting the immune system
- lymph detoxification
- blood circulation improvement
- sinus congestion relief

Plus nothing is better for your skin than a heavy sweat. It opens your pores and allows deep-seated grime and dead cells to be flushed out. Due to the increased blood circulation (that brings more oxygen and nutrients to the skin surface), it can help contribute to a healthy glowing appearance.

The steam room is great for your health, appearance, and state of mind. If you have access to a steam room (or sauna) I suggest you make the effort to enjoy it as well.
