The 6th Annual Tour de Brooklyn

This looks like so much fun! Registration begins May 14th. Details below. Make sure you watch the really cute video below. Should put a smile on your face. :)

About the Ride

The 6th annual Tour de Brooklyn is an exciting, 18-mile family-friendly bike tour. The tour will start and end in Williamsburg, with a brief rest stop in Red Hook Park. NYPD will escort the tour as a rolling parade. Riders of all ages and abilities are welcome to participate. Registration is required; limited day of registration will be available at the Start. Helmets are required for riders age 14 and under, in accordance with the New York State law.

The ride makes occasional stops as the NYPD escorts see fit. Please be prepared to stop and ride with caution. All riders will enjoy a brief stop at Red Hook Park where they will receive a light snack and the opportunity to refill their water bottles. Please bring your own water bottle.

Getting There: For mass transit options to and from the Start/Finish location, take the G-train to the Nassau station or the L-train to the Bedford Avenue station. Please check mta.info for service advisories before you leave. Check in is at McCarren Park at the cross of N 12th St and Union Ave.

How the Tour Works
  • We ride rain or shine.
  • The tour is 18 miles of Brooklyn's finest biking.
  • This year's tour features a ride around western and northern Brooklyn.
  • You'll have a police escort and safety marshals riding with you.
  • The ride will have a family-friendly pace ride (in other words, slow). This is not a race.
  • The ride is a rolling parade and there will be occasional stops while the police and marshals secure intersections and gather the mass of riders at crucial intersections.
  • You'll enjoy light snacks and water at one rest stop approximately half-way through the tour.
  • There is no SAG vehicle for the tour. If you have serious mechanical troubles or become exhausted on the tour, marshals will help you reach the nearest subway or direct you to a bike shop.
  • We will be riding down two way streets. Please stay on your side of the road while riding in the tour.

Register to Ride: The 2010 Tour de Brooklyn is limited to 2500 riders. Registration opens May 14, 2010. Your registration fee helps to cover the cost of this one-of-a-kind tour:
    • $5.00 for Transportation Alternatives members (Please have your membership number ready when registering).
    • $10.00 for non-members.
    • $36.00 if you would like to renew or join as a member of Transportation Alternatives
