Gramercy Tavern

(Nature + A City. Photo: Yvan Rodic)

Although, New York City does not share the same nature vs city balance as depicted above (nor would it be NYC if it did)... there are plenty of things it does have and some how it just works. I think most residents and non-residents of NYC would agree that we are spoiled by way of having an abundance of the best. The best... mix of people from all over the world and their cultures, the best artists, doctors, lawyers, scientists, and almost most importantly we have the very best fine dining. If your taste buds desire it- you can generally find it. And not only is it good, but more and more it is good for you and the environment. Local, fresh, organic, etc.

I've definitely been taking advantage of the available fine dining of late and have a couple of restaurants I will be sharing with you and also some I will revisit.

While at Gramercy Tavern we definitely enjoyed ourselves. If you've never been, it's a restaurant to put on your list. Pretty classy and comfy. There is a ton of foliage inside, which you can't really see from the picture so you'll just have to go check it out for yourself. Impeccable food and service. The only down side is there only one vegetarian entree. It is delicious so I never get sick of it, but something to keep in mind.

A gorgeous Baby Beet salad.
Orange, mint with a sprinkling of spiced almonds and pistachios.
Yum!

The Mushroom Lasagna is amazing! Light yet rich and decadent.
We weren't able to figure it out for sure, but think the little crisps on the top
were mini potato chips. What a nice touch!

For dessert...
Chocolate Pudding
Salted Caramel and Brioche Croutons
Wow!

And a perfect heart cappuccino.
It was a splurge... only occasionally I will indulge.

Gramercy Tavern is on 42 East 20th Street. 212.477.7077. Go check it out and enjoy yourself + savor some delicious food!
