Brooklyn Bridge CSA

I am so excited about the Brooklyn Bridge CSA! It is close by and it is supplied not only by a local farm, but a local organic farm! :) I inquired about the nitty gritty details and I'll update this post when I hear back. In the meantime, if you are a Brooklynite check it out and let them know if you are interested.

What is a CSA?
A CSA is a community that comes together to share risks and rewards with a local farmer. The CSA community pays the farmer up front for the season's produce and the farmer repays this trust by delivering seasonal produce to a pickup location convenient to the CSA membership. CSA members come to the pickup location to get their share of the bounty.

CSA membership is about eating great, local, seasonal produce. Membership also about supporting local farmers. Farming is hard, risky, and costly, especially for small farms. Many local farms would fail without the support of CSAs.

Meet Farmer Fred, live and in person! Sang Lee Farms will be providing Brooklyn Bridge CSA members with fresh, seasonal, local produce starting in June 2010. Come hear first-hand where your vegetables will be coming from and what goes into the growing season. This will be your chance to ask the farmer any question your heart desires. It will also be an opportunity to learn more about the CSA, how to become a member, and how you can take on a more active leadership role.
